The Chairmanship hopeful for the Ikorodu West Local Council Development, Prince Samuel Adegboyga Oyebola Ologijo, has pledged to bring governance closer to the people at the grassroots if elected.
Ologijo made the assurance to the electorates and party members in his primary constituency (Ward A) in Ipakodo where he rounded off his tour of the five political wards in Ikorodu West LCDA.
Ologijo’s visit to the Wards afforded him the opportunity to interact with party executives, members as well as residents who all gave him and his team a rousing welcome.
He told the people in each of the Ward that his mission in the council, if given the chance, will be to use governance to cater for the needs of his party members and the generality of the people.
“I am here today to declare my intention for the Chairmanship position of Ikorodu West LCDA, which is a political office that is the closest to the people. We don’t just want you to know this, but we want to put it into practice”, he assured the people.
“I know that this office is key to the people at the grassroots and it is our goal to make sure that they enjoy the closeness.
“That is why we all must be mindful of who we are placing in the office with our votes during the primary.
“Such person must be somebody that will cater for the party and entire people in the community and that is what we are assuring you that we are going to do if elected into the office”.
While soliciting for their support, Hon. Ologijo said that he is genuinely Ikorodu son, paternally and maternally and added that he has been identifying and using Ward A as his political base from time to time.
He said that his agenda, if elected, will be impactful on the people in the council, while also promising that issues of security, empowerment, infrastructural development, health, social welfare, youth development among others will be taken seriously.
“Our administration is going to be in collaboration with committees in each of the wards. We are going to rely on these committees in our wards to know challenges and projects to be executed from time – to – time”, he said.
“We are not going to pretend that we know it all, hence, we are going to count on members of these committees to assist us.
“If elected, people will realize the importance of local government administration to them. We have documented our agenda that we will be executing fully if elected.
“We are going to take the issue of security seriously because our primary responsibility is first to protect and safeguard the lives and properties of our people.
“We are also going to be concerned with the health of our people and improve on the existing health centres.
“We are going to establish a new health centre in Owutu to cater for the people in that axis and we are going to upgrade the existing ones across the council to the standard that they will be able to provide adequate primary health services for our people”, he pledged.
“We are going to make them functional and also relate with the General Hospital in Ikorodu to assist us in many areas.
“We are going to get at least one ambulance to take care of emergency situations. We can even get two since the council does not necessarily have to be the one to buy them because we have a network of friends that can do that for us”.
He also said that his administration will engage companies like Dangote and others in discharging there Corporate Social Responsibilities to the council.
For the youths, Ologijo announced that a process is ongoing to identify areas of interest for the youths for training, provision of monetary support, professional advice and guidance where necessary.
He also said that his administration will take empowerment of women and social intervention for elders and others as priority.
Mr Oye, Chairman of Ward A, Ikorodu West LCDA, while welcoming the aspirant, said that Hon. Ologijo is one of the aspirants that have shown interest in contesting for the Chairmanship position in the council.
He said that the aspirant had attended the Ward’s meeting to sell his agenda to the people and solicit for their support.
While condemning the state of Ward’s meeting venue and neglect of members, the Ward Chairman charged all the aspirants not only to promise but also fulfill their promises when they get into office.
A massive crowd turned out to welcome the aspirant to his ward and gave him a warm welcome with songs and commendations.
Meanwhile, Hon. Ologijo recently interacted with hundreds of members of the Lagos State Council of Tradesmen and Artisans (LASCOTA) where he also presented his agenda to support members of LASCOTA if elected.
At the meeting, members of LACOSTA assured the Chairmanship aspirant of their support during the primary and main election in July.
