Former Super Eagles and Shooting Stars defender, Mr Adewale Fatai Bisiriyu, popularly called ‘Dagogo Dagama’, is dead.
The former ex – international died in his house at Rasaq Taiwo Street, off Igbogbo Road, Ikorodu, early morning Sunday, May 9, 2021.
He was 65 years old and was buried on Sunday at his family house in Solomade, Ikorodu, in accordance with Islamic rites.
Dagama, who was sick for some time, started his playing career with Attack FC, Ikorodu, and later moved to Ibua FC in Lagos.
He also played for VIP in Ijebu – Ode and National Bank in Lagos.
Late Dagama was invited to the national team early 90s and also plied his soccer trade in Sagakao FC in India and Vietnam among other countries during his playing days.
The tall, lanky, gentle but no nonsense player was one of the founding fathers of the All Stars Football Club, Ikorodu, and Grassroots Sports Development Forum.
He also mentored many players while alive.
Some of the chieftains of Ikorodu Divisional Football Association (IDFA) like Alhaji Luqman Shonibare, Chairman, IDFA, Alhaji Kola Akinsanya, Chairman, GSDF and former Coordinator, Pepsi Academy in Ikorodu and Mr Abiodun Adeyinka (Dakosta), Chairman All Stars FC, Ikorodu among others that spoke with THE IMPACT during his burial, described his death as a great loss to football in Ikorodu, Lagos State, Nigeria and the world generally.
Alhaji Akinsanya, who said that he was with late Dagama yesterday afternoon, told our reporter that the former international did not show any sign that he was going to die when he left him.
