Prince Olugbenga Adegbite Ogunlewe, a public servant and the President of the Association of Senior Servant in Igbogbo, has commended public servants in Igbogbo for their roles in developing the community.
Ogunlewe, who said that he had his doubt initially when he was called upon, added that what the association has achieved within a short time has been tremendous.
He spoke with THE IMPACT at the Igbogbo Township Stadium at the weekend during the ‘Walk for Fitness’ organized in commemoration of the one anniversary of De Vanguard.
“I want to appreciate members of the public servants association in Igbogbo who have been giving their best. One cannot ask them for more. They are always ready to sacrifice and give back to the community that made them”, Ogunlewe said.
“When the clarion call came that we needed to give back to the community, they did not hesitate. Initially, I had my doubts but they did encourage me that it is doable. Sincerely, what we have achieved in a short time is tremendous and beyond my expectations. I give it to them.
“From their meager resources, they gave a lot to make dreams come through and I really appreciate them all”.
He said that the 30KVA generator that the association donated to the Adeboruwa palace will provide light for the palace and its surroundings.
Ogunlewe also revealed that the public servants in Igbogbo are also planning to set up a gym for the public and donate to the orphanage homes among other future plans while also seeking prayers from the public for members.
“A typical achievement courtesy of the commitment of public servants is the generator that we bought and donated to the palace. That place is in darkness at night most times but right now with the generator that we just donated, the place is now well illuminated”, he said.
“Since the generator is a 30KVA generator, it has the capacity to light up other areas and with time, we shall be putting up some fittings along that corridor so that we can also light up the palace surroundings too.
“Aside that, we are also planning to set up a gym within the stadium to impact on the residents and also give back.
“We want the public to keep praying for us. We have clear and open minds and ideas coming in. With time, we intend to reach out to orphanages and less privilege. This is just one of the things that we intend to unfold soon”.
While appraising the impacts of De Vanguard in the last one year, Prince Ogunlewe applauded the group for their contributions to the development of lgbogbo, adding that he can vouch for the integrity of members of the group.
“They have been doing developmental projects and have also been affecting the community in one way or the other and today is just a typical example with the walk for fitness to mark De Vanguard’s first year anniversary.
“You know that one cannot compromise safe and good sound health. What you are seeing today go a long way but most people might not see what they are doing but they are actually keeping fit.
“They are doing good and I applaud and appreciate them all.
“Growing up, we used to be told that we are the future of tomorrow but that future is now and I am happy that we are having young, dynamic and great minds gathering together. I can see a lot of responsible minds that are ready to take up the battle and the challenges ahead and I can vouch for quite a number of them because I have no doubt about their integrity”, Mr Ogunlewe said.
