Ikorodu Muslim Community Inaugurates New Executive Council

Alhaji (Imam) Basheer Maja, the representative of the Grand Chief Imam of Ikorodu Division, Sheikh Olowo-Oribi administering the oath of allegiance new executive members of the Ikorodu Muslim Community Association (IMCA) at the IMCA 2021 A – Day Conference and Induction Programme held at the Ikorodu NASFAT headquarters at Kasoleri, Ikorodu on Wednesday.

The Grand Chief Imam of Ikorodu Division and Chief Imam of Ikorodu Central Mosque, Fadheelat Sheikh Seifudeen A.A Olowo – Oribi, on Wednesday, April 7, 2021, inaugurated the new executive council of the Ikorodu Muslim Community Association (IMCA), charged them to take the community to a greater height.

Sheikh Olowo-Oribi, who is also the Chairman, Board of Trustees (BOT), IMCA, also commended the out gone executives who were presented with certificate of service in acknowledgement of their service to the body.

The revered Muslim cleric was represented by Alhaji (Imam) Basheer Maja at the IMCA 2021 A – Day Conference and Induction Programme held at the Ikorodu NASFAT headquarters at Kasoleri, Ikorodu.

At the event, Musbau Rotinwa and Jamiu Quadri K., were returned and inaugurated as Coordinator and General Secretary of the Muslim Community respectively.

Other members of the new executive councils that were inaugurated were Abojututu Abd. Hafeez (Deputy Coordinator), Abojukoro Abubakri O. (Asst. General Secretary), Sanni Kazeem Ganiu (Treasurer), Elemuren Rasheed A. (Financial Secretary), Amodu Taofeeq Olorunjeda (Director of Communications), Anifowoshe Abdullahi B. (Director of Investment), Olowu Shue O. (Internal Auditor), Shittu Alliu (Director of Social) and Ishola Hassanot (Asst. Director of Social).

Others were Aregbesola Anatallahi A. (Women Moderator), Alimi Balikis Omotola (Asst. Women Moderator), Busari Taofeek (Youth Moderator), Monzor Majolagbe (Mufti), Bawa – Allah Abd. Wasiu (Deputy Mufti), Sulaimon Abd. Raheem A. (Director of Welfare), Sanni Risikat (Asst. Director of Welfare) and Erubami Abd. Wasiu (Ex – Officio).

 The Secretariat and financial reports were presented at the conference and were subsequently adopted after delegates in attendance accepted them.

The Chief Imam Olowo – Oribi, while administering the oath of allegiance on the new executives, charged them to work in unity to move the Ikorodu Muslim Community Association forward.

“As our new executives, you have to ensure that you work in unity and be exemplary in all that you do. That is the only way that we can move Islam forward in Ikorodu”, he charged.

“We expect you to improve on what the previous administration did by moving the Muslim community forward”.

He commended the immediate past executives for their achievements and the committee incharge of the organization for holding the conference and inauguration after three postponements.

Chief Imam Olowo – Oribi also stated that the aims and objectives of the IMCA’s formation which, according to him, was initiated by late Ayangbure of Ikorodu, Oba Salaudeen Afolabi Oyefusi, has not been fully achieved.

“The aims and objective of the formation of IMCA by the former Ayangbure of Ikorodu, Oba Salaudeen Oyefusi, has not been achieved. We have not really done much”, he said.

 “If I have to score the body, it would be 60% because we have not achieved much”, he said.

In his address, Alhaji Musbaudeen Rotinwa, the returning IMCA Coordinator, while stating that the seat was challenging, commended late Oba  Salaudeen Oyefusi for the formation of IMCA and for his support while alive.

He said that the outgone executive achieved the registration of the Ikorodu Muslim Community Association (IMCA) with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and the Ikorodu Local Government and was issued with certificates.

Alhaji Rotinwa added that work is in progress to register the body with the Ministry of Home Affairs in the state.

He also said that they are still working on achieving the Muislim Cemetery project.

“We are still on the Muslim Cemetery project which is now turning into an embarrassment because, if we are asking people not to bury their dead ones at home again, we must provide them a place as alternative “, he said.

“The public cemeteries are nothing to write about and people are complaining.

“We have seen cases where Muslim corpses were exhumed after their properties were sold and in some cases, new foundations were constructed on some burial places that were not exhumed”, he added.

Alhaji Rotinwa, who disclosed that there is no money in IMCA’s account, commended his excos for their commitment and dedication throughout his last tenure.

“There is no money in the IMCA’s account. We ran the last administration on contributions from the members of the excos, even today’s conference. I thank you for your commitment and dedication to duty”, he said.

Also, the returning IMCA Secretary, Imam Jmaiu K. Quadri, while given Secretariat report of the last administration, listed lifting of suspension/amendment of constitution, almanac publications, securing a secretariat, special prayers for Badoo and cultism menace in Ikorodu, Eid il Fitr and Eid il Ad – Haa celebrations with Ayangbure, organizing the maiden edition of Quranic competition and seminar among others as some of the achievements of the past executive council.

Lectures were delivered at the conference by Sheikh Daud Adelakun who spoke on the topic, “Effective Leadership”, and Sheikh Jamiu Abd. Azeez who spoke on , “The Need for A United and Strong Umaah in the Face of  the Trending Political Challenges in Nigeria”.

Other dignitaries at the conference were the Chief Imam of Oriwu Central Mosque and Vice Chairman of Board of Trustees of IMCA, His Eminence, Shaykh tahya Oshoala As – Samadani represented by Alhaji Imam Mojeed Arogundade, Alhaji Sheikh Jmaiu Abdulazeez and Alhaji Sheikh Musa Abd. Salaam.

Delegates from Jamaitul Islamiyyah, NASFAT, Shamsideen, Ikorodu Central Mosque, Huasa Community Central Mosque, Ansar – ul – Deen, Ikorodu Kayokayo, NACOMYO, Ansarrullahi, TMON, Oga Central Mosque, Jamiatul, As – Samadani, FOMWAN, IKNAF, BAMAS, Aluh Sunnah and Ogbara Mosque among others were also at the A – day Conference.
