De Vanguard (Development Vanguard), a political and developmental platform based in Igbogbo, Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Development Area of Ikorodu Division of Lagos, Southwest, Nigeria, is set to mark its first year anniversary with a fitness walk.
The general public is invited to partake in the walk which will take – off at 6.30am on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at 8, Solawon Street (Bakare’s compound), Igbogbo.
Speaking with THE IMPACT on the anniversary fitness walk, Mr Hameed Olalekan Aroyewun, the Vice President/Director of Programmes of the De Vanguard, said that the body chose the walk for fitness to mark the its first anniversary to promote healthy living.
“Physical fitness is the first requisite for happiness and healthy living. That is why we are promoting that among our youths and residents of Ikorodu Division, especially those in Igbogbo”, he said.
“After the walk, we are going to converge on Igbogbo Township Stadium, for professional tit-bit on how to maintain a healthy lifestyle.This will be handled by a member of the body. This is to further emphasize the importance of healthy living among the youths”.
While stating that participation in the fitness walk is not restricted, he said that anybody willing to participate must use a nose mask.
“Our members and others interested in walking with us for fitness should kindly come along with their nose masks as strict compliance with all COVID-19 protocols will be ensured”, he added.
De Vanguard is a political and development platform that encourages members to participate actively in political engagements by joining the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other political parties as members.
The group, since coming into existence last year, has been engaging actors and stakeholders in the political and traditional circles as well as other sectors with the aim of engedering development in Igbogbo and its environs.
