The Chairman of Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Builder Sesan Daini, has said that registration of new Community Development Associations (CDAs) has been put on hold in his council area.
He charged the existing ones to be accountable and transparent in handling funds generated from residents for development.
Daini gave the charge at the honour/award ceremony by the Igbe Road Rehabilitation Committee (IRRC) and the nine Joint CDAs for Hon. Babajimi Benson who facilitated the rehabilitation of the road and others that contributed to the rehabilitation feat.
The Chairman and others too were honoured with Community Builders’ award for their roles in the rehabilitation of the road.
The event was held at the De Sleek Hotel on Thursday, April 1, 2021.
While stating that the accountability and probity of IRRC made members of the public to come to the aid of the community in rehabilitating the once deplorable road, Builder Daini also charged other CDAs to emulate them.
“Accountability of the IRRC speaks for the community. The way you accounted for every penny that you realized on a daily basis is very commendable. Other CDAs should learn from it”, Builder Daini charged.
He said that he has stopped registration for new CDAs because financial disagreement amongst existing ones has always been a reason for requests for new associations which he said he doesn’t want to encourage at all.
“I have stopped the creation of new CDAs because there has been an increase in breakup of existing ones because of disagreement refarding funds.
“Community associations must account for funds in their care rather than breaking up”, he said.
