The Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has described the new radio station, 105.1FM, founded by Rep. Babajimi Benson, the representative of the lkorodu Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives and located in Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Ikorodu Division of Lagos State, Southwest, Nigeria, as a credible means of information dissemination.
Sanwo – Olu made the statement while making special appearance on the radio station alongside his deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, immediately after officially commissioning the radio station on Wednesday, March 24, 2021.
The governor spoke in four languages – Yoruba, English, Ijebu and pidgin English when he was hosted on air by the General Manager of the new radio station and a seasoned broadcaster, Mr Adeniyi Taiwo Kunnu.
Sanwo – Olu arrived at the station in the company of his entourage and Rep. Benson at exactly 3.17pm after he had commissioned the Housing Estate in Bayeku, the new ultra – modern Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA Secretariat and the reconstructed Igbe – Oreyo road facilitated by Rep. Benson.
He commissioned the station at exactly 3.39pm and moved into the station’s studio immediately to make an historic appearance.
“It is an honour to be on this station. This is a credible means of communication”, Sanwo – Olu said while commending the establishment of the new community radio station.
Speaking on his working visit to lkorodu, the governor said that he and members of his administration were in the division for the continuation of infrastructural development agenda.
“We are here to push our agenda for community – based infrastructural development. We have commissioned the housing estate named after Prince Abiodun Ogunleye.
“We have also commissioned the Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA Secretariat.
“We have seen the edifice built by the chairman and we are indeed happy and telling other chairmen to do the same in their areas”.
On a lighter note, the Governor, while assuring listeners that his administration will deliver on its T.H.E.S.E agenda, greeted Ikorodu people, who are the immediate and major audience of the radio station, in Ijebu dialect saying, “Eweso o dede….”.
Traditional rulers in Ikorodu division, led by the Vice Chairman, Lagos State Council of Obas & Chiefs and the Ayangbure of Ikorodu, His Royal Majesty, Oba Kabir Shotobi who was in the entourage of the governor for the commissioning activities, also joined him in the studio.
The State Police Commissioner, CP Hakeem Odumosu, also graced the commissioning of the radio station.
IKD 106.1FM began its official transmission on Sunday, March 14, 2021, while the monarchs across Ikorodu division made a special pre – commissioning appearance at the radio station on Saturday, March 20, 2021.
Sanwo – Olu also commissioned the newly reconstructed Igbe/Oreyo road facilitated by the representative of the Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Rep. Babajimi Benson.
