His Royal Majesty, Oba (Engr.) Kabir Adewale Shotobi, Adegorushen V, the Ayangbure of Ikorodu, has charged residents of Ikorodu to ensure that they get vaccinated against the COVID – 19 virus.
The royal father gave the charge on Monday (today) after he was vaccinated alongside his queen, Olori Abosede Kudirat Shotobi at the Ayangbure palace in Ikorodu.
Also vaccinated were Princes and Princesses of Oba Shotobi, as well as other members of the royal family members and palace aides .
The Agbaakin of Ikorodu Kingdom, Sir (Otunba) Ayodele Elesho, KJW, was also vaccinated.
Speaking with Oba Shotobi after the vaccination, the royal father, who stated that the process is easy, appealed that any resident who have the opportunity to get the jab should submit his or herself for the vaccination.
“I witnessed the vaccination of the Incident Commander in Lagos State in person of Mr Babajide Sanwo – Olu and it is in line with that that the traditional rulers are also being vaccinated and that was what you witnessed today”, Oba Shotobi said.
“I have taken the jab for well over an hour and l don’t even feel that I have been injected. It is a seamless process”, the royal father confirmed.
“My family, chiefs and others too have been vaccinated and I appreciate the medical team of lkorodu Local Government for taking this exercise seriously.
“Everybody at the palace today complied with the COVID – 19 protocols and as you can see, we maintained COVID – 19 protocols by sanitizing everybody and also ensuring that they wear their face masks.
“We have been told that this vaccine does not prevent you from contacting the virus and that we must still ensure compliance with the protocols”.
Oba Shotobi, while recollecting his encounter with the virus which he said he was able to overcome, assured the populace that the World Health Organisation (WHO) has certified the vaccines as good for human vaccination.
“I have seen the effects of the virus. I have gone through it and I survived it and I thank God for that. I have taken the vaccine today and I am appealing to Ikorodu people that once they are opportuned to get a jab, they should surrender themselves for it.
“I have surrendered myself for the vaccination and l want you to do the same too. Prevention is better than cure. It is a preventive measure that people are taking all over the world.
“The World Health Organisation (WHO) has given its approval for the vaccination”, he said.
“People must know that taking the vaccination will help to prevent the virus, protect them against it and help prevent its spread. I will appreciate it if we all submit ourselves for vaccination whenever the opportunity arises”, the royal father appealed once more.
Meanwhile, Dr (Mrs) Shotunde, the Medical Officer of the Ikorodu Local Government, who led the medical team that vaccinated the royal father, wife, family members and others, said that they had come to the palace to give Oba Shotobi and his family first dosage of the vaccine.
“This is the first dosage of the vaccine for the kabiyesi and the second jab will be given 12 weeks after this one”, she said.
