The newly appointed Permanent Secretary (PS) of the Ministry of Transportation, Mr Kamal Owodiran Olowosago, has appealed for the support of the staff of the Ministry in achieving the T.H.E.M.E.S agenda of the current administration.
He made the appeal on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, while he was being welcomed to the ministry after he was sworn-in alongside 17 others as new Permanent Secretaries last week.
The Honourable Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde, led other members of staff, in welcoming Mr. Olowosago to the Ministry.
Receiving the Permanent Secretary, the Commissioner explained that Mr. Olowosago is now saddled with a huge responsibility of actualising the goals of the current administration in relation to the T.H.E.M.E.S. Agenda.
While expressing his optimism for a cordial work relationship with the Permanent Secretary, Oladeinde said that Olowosago’s track records show that he’s an excellent administrator who will help the Ministry attain set targets in the transportation sector, including the Lagos Rail Mass Transit, Bus Reform project and Junction/Roundabout Improvement works among others.
Oladeinde affirmed his commitment to ensuring that the new Permanent Secretary succeeds in his duty, stressing that the qualities exhibited at his former duty posts put him in good stead to continue the good work of his predecessor in the Transportation Ministry.
Olowosago, in his response, thanked the Commissioner for the warm welcome and solicited for the support of the Management and Staff of the Ministry in actualising the T.H.E.M.E.S. Development Agenda on Transportation, noting that the cooperation of everyone will be instrumental in achieving the required success.
He emphasised that the support and collaboration of everyone is essential for an effective working relationship towards achieving the desired goals, declaring that it is only by teamwork that the Ministry will achieve its set objectives.
In his remarks at the event, Mr. Sewedo Oluseyi Whenu, the immediate past Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transportation who was redeployed to the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives, congratulated Olowosago on his appointment as Permanent Secretary, stating that the journey before him is tasking but surmountable and noted that the baton exchange should be seen by members of staff as the beginning of further landmark achievements.
Whenu appealed to Management and staff of the Ministry to extend the same cooperation and unalloyed support he enjoyed to Olowosago, pleading that all forms of vices and discord should be avoided.
He also urged the Managing Directors and General Managers of the Agencies within the purview of the Ministry to give maximum cooperation to the new Permanent Secretary as they had done to him in the past.
Olowoshago had served at various Ministries and Establishments of the State Government including the Ministry of Establishment and Training, Office of the Head of Service, Public Service Office, Office of the Chief of Staff and Ministry of Home Affairs before his current appointment.
The welcome ceremony was witnessed by Heads of Agencies, and Directors in the Ministry of Transportation, representatives of the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Permanent Secretary’s Family.
