The two suspected armed robbers that were almost lynched on Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at Sabo market have been identified as Gbolahan Adebowale, 18, and Quadri Giwa Ajina, 21.
The quick intervention of the men of the Nigerian Police attached to the Shagamu Road Division in Ikorodu, THE IMPACT gathered, saved them from the wrath of the traders who were said to have gotten tired of incessant robbery and ready to take law into their own hands.
According to sources, Gbolahan, who is also called ‘Omo Joyibo’, and Quadri, 21, are notorious robbers and members of a daredevil gang that have been terrorizing Ikorodu, especially Sabo, Ikorodu garage/Lagos road and Ladega.
According to the Police report, one beretta pistol was recovered from the suspects.
Also, a source stated that both suspects were apprehended after succeeding in robbing many traders and buyers at Sabo market of their phones and money.
It was reported that one bold man hit Gbolahan, who was holding the gun to scare their victims, from the back and he fell on the floor after which he was overpowered.
Quadri was said to have been apprehended where he was hiding after seeing that his partner was at the mercy of the angry mob.
Another source told THE IMPACT that the suspected robbers actually operated at the popular “Ile Epo Oba” where they robbed many unsuspecting victims.
It was stated that an elderly man whom they also wanted to rob resisted them despite holding him at gunpoint.
“After they saw that the man was not ready to release his phone despite threatening him with their gun which had ran out of bullets after they had shot into the air, they took to their heels.
“It was at the NEPA station opposite Sabo market that the one with dreadlocks fell into the drainage and was severely beaten with all sorts of objects and was also stoned before the arrival of Police”, another source added.
