The Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo – Olu, and the Senatsor representing the Lagos East Senatorial District, Sen. Adetokunbo Mikhail Abiru, have joined hundreds of others in commiserating with the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, (NIDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, on the death of her mother, Alhaja Sadiat Abeke Erogbogbo.
The former three – term member of the House of Representatives, who represented the Ikorodu Federal Constituency between 2003 and 2015, lost her mother on Monday, February 1, 2021, at the age of 90 years.
Late Mrs Erogbogbo was a teacher and a business woman.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, in a statement issued on Tuesday (yesterday), by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, sympathised with the deceased family, friends, business associates and the entire people of Ikorodu and urged them to take solace in the fact that the late teacher lived a fulfilled life.
“No doubt, the death of a loved one is usually painful as it is irreparable but we must always take solace in God if the deceased had lived a good life”, Gov. Sanwo – Olu.
“Alhaja Erogbogbo, popularly known as ‘Kind Teacher’ in the early days of her teaching career, lived a fulfilled life, considering her positive impact on the lives of her numerous students who have turned out as great men and women in the society today.
“The elderly and wise counsel of Alhaja Erogbogbo will be sorely missed not only by his family but the entire people of Ikorodu, where she played active roles towards its development for many years before she passed on.
“I sympathise with Honourable Abike Dabiri-Erewa, her siblings and the people of Ikorodu.
“I pray that God will grant late Alhaja Erogbogbo eternal rest and grant the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.”
Sen. Abiru, in his own tribute, described late Mrs Erogbogbo as a great woman in a release he personally signed.
“We have lost a Great Woman.
“I mourned the death of Alhaja Sadiat Abeke Erogbogbo, the mother of Chairperson of Nigerian Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa.
“I want to condole with the children of the departed and urged them to take solace in the fact that the matriarch lived a meaningful life that touched many lives”.
While stating that the late mother of Hon. Abike was a disciplinarian and good teacher with great impacts on his pupils, Abiru also added that her death is a huge loss to the state.
“I know Mama Erogbogbo as a disciplinarian and good teacher who instilled godly virtues and morals in young children, including her biological children”, Sen. Abiru said.
“This loss was an irreparable loss, not only to the Ikorodu community but Lagos East at large and beyond.
“I pray that God should grant Mama Erogbogbo Aljanah Firdous and comfort the family she left behind”.
