The retired and former Principal of the premier college in Ikorodu Division, Oriwu College, lkorodu, Alhaji Abiodun Sherifat Ogunniyi, has emerged as ‘THE IMPACT Ikorodu Man of the Year for 2020’.
In a release signed by the Publisher/Reporter – in – Chief, THE IMPACT newspaper (online and print), Kunle Adelabu, he said that Alhaja Ogunniyi emerged as the most preferred among the eight nominees from three categories (government/politics, group and individual) considered for theaward.
Adelabu added that the winner of the Ikorodu Man of the Year will be presented with a certificate and an award at a private ceremony in February, unlike the two previous editions where the winners were just announced.
“The award which was initiated in 2016 was designed to honour individual or group which impacted most on Ikorodu division in the year under review.
“Ogunniyi was picked for the award for making the most impact on Ikorodu and entire Lagos State in the turbulent 2020.
“Within the year under consideration, she made the biggest impact by leading students of Oriwu Senior Model College, Ikorodu, to emerge the best school at the Zonal, District, State and national level.
“In honour of the feat that she achieved before her retirement on Monday, September 28, 2020, she accompanied the Tutor – General/Permanent Secretary (TG/PS), Education District II, to Abuja to receive the Presidential award at the 2020 World Teachers Day.
“ln the same year, she also engaged in humanitarian activities by assisting several families and individuals, though, without publicity.
“The management of THE IMPACT also, through findings, discovered her motherly roles to her students and incredible partnership with parents that trusted her management competency, as well as teachers of the premier college.
“She will be presented with a certificate of award at a yet to be announced date in February. Though, the presentation ceremony will be strictly private”.
According to THE IMPACT, Alhaja Ogunniyi’s exemplary deeds and outstanding accomplishment were done in selfless manner.
“She impacted greatly on students, staff and generality of Ikorodu Division in 2020 without any gain in sight. She was just doing her work with great commitment and dedication despite having few months to retire from service.
“She succeeded in placing Ikorodu on the national, continental and global education map with her exceptional managerial and motherly activities. She is indeed an icon and deservedly celebrated by the royal fathers, politicians, educational stakeholders and othersinlkorodu division for her feats.
“Her accomplishments within the year are also testament that all the awards, honours and outstanding deeds in the last eight years as Principal of the Oriwu Senior Model College, Ikorodu are not by accident. There is a consistent pattern.
