-As Igbomogun FC win second Edition of ‘BOOOK’ Soccer Competition
President of the National Councilors’ Forum of Nigeria and the Council Leader of the lgbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Ikorodu Division, Lagos, Southwest, Nigeria, Hon. Nurudeen Alimi, has lived up to his pledge of engaging his constituents by organising health and sporting programmes during the yuletide.
About 500 residents, including old and young, benefited from the third phase of the Councilor’s free eyes treatment and glasses tagged ‘Jigi Alimi’, while the final match of the second edition of the ‘BOOOK’ Soccer Competition, organised in honour of the five leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ikorodu division (Basorun, Ogunleye, Olowu, Ogunlewe and Kaoli), attracted impressive crowd.
Hundreds of residents that gathered for the free eyes glasses on Saturday, December 19, 2020, at the palace of the Baale of Bayeku community in Igbogbo, were subjected to various eyes tests before those qualified for the glasses were given.
The medical personnel on ground took their time in attending to the rural people many of whom commended the Councilor for the medical outreach.
In the final match of the soccer tournament played at the Anglican Primary School field in Offin, on Saturday, December 20, 2020, Igbomogun FC beat Baba Ode FC 3 goals to 2, to win the trophy and the N50, 000 cash prize, while the first and second runners– up got N30, 000 and N20, 000 respectively.
Macaulay FC was awarded the maximum points and goals to win the third-place match as their opponents, Water FC, failed to turn up.
A total number of 21 teams participated in the competition which started on October 10th.
Speaking with THE IMPACT, Hon. Alimi said that the ‘Jigi Alimi’ and the football tournament were parts of his programmes aimed at impacting on his constituents and engaging the youths.
“As a legislator, my duty is to make laws and oversee the implementation of the council’s programmes and policies and how it impacted on the generality of people in our council. But aside from that, as the representative of our people, I also owe them the duty to discharge my representation and give them the dividends of democracy.
“This accounted for the reason I embarked on some programmes that have impacted on my constituents and I wish to do more in the coming year”, the Council said.
He assured the generality of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA residents that the Councilors will ensure that their yearnings and aspirations, in terms of infrastructures, good governance and patronage, are met by the council.
Many of the residents that spoke with our reporter commended the Councilor for caring about their health and urged him to bring efficient health facilities nearer to their respective communities.
Hon. Alimi is representing ward C3 which covers Bayeku, Oreta and Offin axis of the lgbogbo/Bayeku LCDA.
