Senate President Ahmad Lawan on Tuesday, (today), sworn-in Mr Adetokunbo Abiru, and three others as Senators of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The newly sworn – in Senators were elected on Saturday December 5, 2020, through bye-elections that were held in their respective states.

Senator Abiru, the former Group Managing Director, Polaris Bank PLC, was elected to replace late Adebayo Osinowo who, on June 15, 2020, died while serving as the Senator representing the people of Lagos East Senatorial District.
Abiru in a statement released after his admittance into the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly stated:
“Today, I was inaugurated into the Nigerian Senate to represent the good people of Lagos East Senatorial District.
“As I have often emphasised since getting the nomination of our party, the All Progressives Congress, and the confirmation through the ballot on December 5, 2020, that I will be holding this position in trust for the people of my district and Lagos State to serve in good conscience and unalloyed commitment.
“There is a job to be done and I know with God’s grace and your support, we shall have cause to rejoice at the end.
