The electorate across the five Local Government in the Lagos East Senatorial District on Saturday, December 5, 2020, went to the poll to elect a Senator to fill the vacant seat of the District at the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly in Abuja.
Incidentally, the two leading candidates for the position – Mr Adetokunbo Mikhail Abiru and Mr Babatunde Olalere Gbadamosi of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) respectively, are from Ikorodu Local Government.
In casting their votes across the 19 Wards, the Ikorodu electorate voted for Mr Abiruas their preferred choice for the coveted seat as he gathered 19, 204 votes while the PDP candidate, Mr Gbadamosi scored 3,766 votes.
There were a total of 335, 206 registered voters in Ikorodu with 23, 451 valid votes recorded; 515 rejected votes and 23, 966 as total votes cast during the bye – election in Ikorodu.
Elections in two of the 19 Wards, Ipakodo and Ijede, were cancelled by the Returning Officer, Dr Andrew Akala, due to over voting.
According to the official results released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Ikorodu, signed by the Returning Officer and APC and PDP agents, below are how electoratein Ikorodu voted yesterday.

Our reporters that covered the election also recorded results announced by the INEC officials in some polling units in Ikorodu:
At the polling unit 007 (Isele 1), Ayangbure/isikalu Street, APC scored 13 votes while PDP recorded 14 votes.
At the polling unit 043 (Aga – Ijomu), Oke Ota – Ona, APC garnered 54 votes to that of PDP, 7 votes.
APC candidate, Abiru received 12 votes compared to the PDP candidate, Gbadamposi who scored 22 votes at polling unit 014 (Isele 1) at Allison/Ogunsanya Streets junction.
APC also lost to the PDP with 7 votes to 13 votes at poling unit 013.
Abiru garnered 23 votes to that of Gbadamosi who scored 7 votes at African Bethel Primary School, Ota Ona.
