After months of heated campaigns, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Lagos East Senatorial bye-election, Mr Tokunbo Abiru, garnered 89, 294 votes to emerge winner of the poll held on yesterday, Saturday, December 5, 2020.
He was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after results from the five Local Government areas were collated.
According to the results announced, his closest opponent and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Mr Babatunde Gbadamosi, scored 11,257 votes.
However, as a consolation for the outspoken and controversial PDP candidate, he won his polling unit in Ikorodu which is traditionally controlled by APC.
