– lnspects ongoing construction of school, sporting, health buildings facilitated to Constituency
The Representative of the Ikorodu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives in Abuja, Hon. Babajimi Benson, has stated that he is focusing more on helping to develop infrastructures across the Ikorodu Division.
He said this while embarking on a marathon inspection of projects he facilitated across the Division on Monday (yesterday) with his team.
Hon. Benson visited the upgrading of Ita – Elewa Youth/Sporting Centre into a mini – stadium with mini – football pitch, pavilion, basketball and volleyball courts.
Also visited were sites of ongoing construction of classrooms in various schools and the completed Primary Health Centre in Ibeshe.
Among the schools where the ongoing construction of classroom facilities are located are Ayangburen Junior Secondary school, Ikorodu,(a storey building of 8 – classrooms), Methodist Primary School, Igbogbo (a storey building of 8 – classrooms), Ipakodo Primary School, Ipakodo, Ikorodu West LCDA ( a storey building of 8 – classrooms), Odogunyan Senior Secondary School, Ikorodu North LCDA and UPE Primary School, Ajaguro- Agric in Ikorodu West LCDA.
Others are Omolaye Pry School Agbede in Ikorodu North LCDA, Luwasa Junior Secondary School, Ijede LCDA, Community Junior Secondary School, Mowo – Nla, Ikorodu Local Government, Saint Saviour, Igbaga (6 – block of classrooms) and Salvation Army, Ikorodu (3-blocks of classrooms).
Hon. Benson, speaking with our reporter during the inspection, said:
“We are concentrating more on infrastructures. We want our pupils, children to have good education in a conducive academic environment”, he said.
“Construction of big and small classroom facilities are ongoing simultaneously across the Ikorodu Federal Constituency, some of these you have seen during the tour today.
“Till date, we have built over 20 blocks of classrooms across our jurisdiction and we are still going to do more. Our people have not seen anything yet”, he assured his constituents.
He also stated that work is also ongoing on two Primary Health Centres at Ibeshe and Agbele in Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA and Ikorodu LG respectively.
“Aside the construction of classrooms and sporting centre across the Constituency, we also facilitated two Primary Health Centres in Ibeshe and Agbele so that our people can have access to good health services.
“The Ibeshe health centre will be commissioned on Friday (November 27, 2020)”, Hon. Benson revealed.
“We are going to be providing health equipment and materials for the two facilities. We have equally contacted the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health to assist with staffers”, he added.
Hon. Benson also commended media organizations in Ikorodu for being the most vibrant in the state with the way they have been engaging elected officers and others and also projecting Ikorodu Division.
“Community media practitioners in Ikorodu have been the most vibrant in the state. I used to tell my colleagues that none among them has the number of WhatsApp platforms as being run by vibrant news mediums and influencers in Ikorodu”, he said.
“I always take out time to read your stories online and publications and they are very good”.
Mr Abdulaziz, the project manager of the Ita – Elewa Sports Centre and the representative of the Chairman of Peak , the company handling the project, told newsmen that the project will be completed in 12 months.
“We are working on the youth sports centre. We are going to make provision for pavilion, mini – football pitch, basketball and volley courts”, he said.
“We are going to finish the project in 12 weeks”, the contractor assured.
The lawmaker also paid visits to the Olubeshe of Ibeshe, His Royal Majesty, Oba Richard Ogunsanya and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ikorodu Division, Chief Dele Olowu.
Hon. Benson had about two ago weeks visited the ongoing road projects that he also facilitated at Igbe and Palmer Street, both in Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA.
