More groups and individuals have continued to express their condemnation over the burning of public and private properties in the state since Tuesday, October 20, 2020.
One of such groups is King Kosoko Youth Forum (KKYF), which has strongly condemned the vandalisation and destruction by hoodlums across the state, especially the attack on the palace of Oba of Lagos.
In a statement signed by the Secretary of the King Kosoko Youth Forum, Engr. Kabir Kolawole Kosoko, the group described the attack on the palace as a sacrilegious act.
“The King Kosoko Youth Forum objurgated the intrusion of miscreants into the palace of Oba of Lagos.
“KKYF is profoundly saddened that the peaceful #EndSARS protest in Lagos State has been hijacked by hoodlums and selfish individuals who have ran riot through the streets of our darling Lagos state, inducing mayhem, vandalization, destruction, looting and setting our state and national heritages ablaze”, the statement said.
“The destruction in the economic hub of the nation has been extended to our ancestral and traditional seat of power, the Iga Idunganran. We seriously condemn the invasion of Oba of Lagos palace by armed hoodlums who stole traditional instruments of office and other valuables.
“This sacrilegious act by unscrupulous elements has desecrated our cultural heritage and value”.
The group pleaded with those engaging in burning and destruction to stop forthwith and allow peace to reign.
While praying for the repose of the souls of those that died in the mayhem in the past few days, KKYF also expressed relief that the Lagos monarch and his family are unarmed.
“King Kosoko Youth Forum pleads with irate protesters to sheath their swords and allow peace to reign in Lagos and Nigeria in general because the sanctity of our cultural heritage as well as our state and national heritages are our collective duties and we must jealously guard them.
“The King Kosoko youths are relieved that Kabiyesi, Oba Riliwanu Babatunde Aremu Osuolale Akiolu, Akiolu 1, and his entire family are safe and secure. May the souls of all the departed souls rest in peace”.
