Hon. Wasiu Adeshina, the Executive Chairman of the Ikorodu Local Government, has harped on the need for Nigerians to maintain unity by recognizing one another’s differences.
Adeshina, in a statement on the occasion of the 60th Independence anniversary of Nigeria, also charged citizens to always participate in governance as a way of moving the country forward.
His statement read thus:
“Stuck at a point is a man without his folks or others to lend a helping hand. Many keep moving in circles for lacking the principles of togetherness in freedom.
“For the freedom of a nation to be sustained, unity is the basis and strength is basic.
“For Peace and Love to thrive, respect for one another’s values, principles and ideologies are important. Also inculcating, appreciating and accepting diversity of cultures in the Nation for a sustainable Nigeria.
“For Growth and Development in the Nation, contribution to good governance, respect and adherence to the Constitution and the Constituted Authority, supporting the Government at all levels, Economy, Education, Health, Security and every other sector within one’s capacity should be a priority and the innate zeal to move Nigeria forward”.
Nigeria’s Compatriots I call! Let’s preach oneness. Let’s uphold peace. Let’s ensure strength. Definitely, together we would progress moving forward”.
