The federal lawmaker representing the Ikorodu Federal Constituency at the Lower Chamber of the National Assembly, Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, has lived up to his pledge of ensuring the full rehabilitation of the collapsed Igbe road in Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Development Area.
The Contractor on Monday, September 28, 2020, moved to site and started excavation work to begin the construction of a drainage system on the road.

The effort of the community, under the Igbe Road Rehabilitation Committee and entire residents who mobilized funds and materials, through community self-help, to stabilize the strategic road, had impressed the lawmaker during the visit and as a result, promised to make the completion of the road part of his constituency project.
When our reporter visited the ongoing project today, Tuesday, September 29, 2020, contractor had commenced excavation work from Igbe junction to the end of the Oriwu College fence while construction materials like iron rods, bags of cement, granite, sand and others had been procured for the construction of the drainages.

The site Engineer, who simply identified himself as Engr. Mohammed, speaking with THE IMPACT, said that the road is going to have a drainage system on both sides and will be asphalted.
He also told our reporter that there will be a cross culvert into various streets connecting the road.
Engr. Mohammed said that the construction will be completed between 4 and 5 months.
Mr Shobowale Mutiu, the engineer monitoring the project for Hon. Benson, also speaking with THE IMPACT, stated that the project will start from Igbe junction and extend to Oreyo where it is expected to connect another road project being done by the state government.
He added that the road is not going to be expanded but that the existing one-lane each on both sides of the road will be maintained.
