In response to the COVID – 19 protocols, the annual gathering of youths in Ikorodu Division, otherwise known as ‘Ikorodu Division Youth Summit’, will be held online this year unlike the previous editions where youths physically participated.
This year’s edition tagged, ‘1st Ikorodu Division Virtual Youth Summit’, is scheduled for October 1, 2020, and would hold on Zoom starting by 12noon.
The theme of the summit is ‘Abounding Opportunities For Youths Inspite Global Pandemic’.
In a statement by the organizers of the summit, Ikorodu Division Youth Initiative Movement (IDYIM), it was stated that the challenges posed by the pandemic has made them to be innovative, a situation which they said would enable them to be able to organise this year’s edition of the summit rather than cancelling the event which according to them, is the largest youths gathering in Lagos.
“2018 Edition was Mind-Blowing. We thrilled the entire Ikorodu Division in 2019. Both experiences adjudged us as the host of the largest gathering of youths in Lagos State”, the statement said.
“Not even the Pandemic can hinder us from delivering a breathtaking summit in 2020.
“Necessity is not just the mother of invention but of innovation and the midwife of creative ideas. Join us as we converge all Ikorodu youths, home and in Diasporas, on the 1st of October for the 2020 Ikorodu Division Virtual Youth Summit”.
The annual summit has been used to advance issues concerning youths and developments in lkorodu Division since its inception in 2018.
