In continuation of its 2020/21 programmes, the Igbogbo Platinum Lions Club has fed 200 vulnerable people and also erected road signage for easy movement for motorists and pedestrians.
The service club, under the leadership of Lion Idowu Oluwaseun, President of the club for 2020/2021 year , about a month ago renovated the Adeboruwa palace in Igbogbo which has been neglected for many years.
While the Club President led other members to various areas where residents were fed, the District Governor unveiled the road signage sponsored by the club, when he paid a courtesy visit to Ikorodu recently.
Speaking with THE IMPACT, Lion Oluwaseun said that the club is ready to effectively impact on the society within the calendar year by initiating and executing laudable programmes/projects that will have direct impact on the people.
He said that the club successfully embarked on feeding of 200 less privileged and vulnerable people in some locations in Ikorodu, adding that the exercise revealed that hunger is really bitten hard on the people.
“We embarked on ‘feeding the hungry’ exercise about two weeks ago and it was a successful outing as the club was able to provide meal (Ginger spiced cornmeal and fried bean extract) for over 200 needy persons.
“It was obvious with the impact of the project that hunger was striking a lot of homes as a lot of individuals who looked very fine scampered to have at least a part of the Club’s largesse.
“We are glad to be Lions and feel so happy to have been able to fulfill one of our core responsibilities as Lions”, he said.
The young Lion President also informed THE IMPACT that the office furniture for the palace of the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo promised by the District Governor during the unveiling of the renovated palace has been fulfilled.
He also revealed that the Club has more projects that are still going to be unveiled during his tenure.
