The Permanent Vice Chairman, Lagos State Council of Obas and Chiefs and the Ayangbure of Ikorodu, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Engr,) Kabir Adewale Shotobi has reiterated his support for the Lagos State Polytechnic’s aspiration of transmuting into a University of Technology so that it will be better positioned to serve the Ikorodu Community, Lagos State and the Nigeria at Large.
The royal father said that he once asked the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch A. Adeboye, to pray for the upgrade of the Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH) into a Technical University during the RCCG programme held in the Polytechnic last year.
He made the revelation during a courtesy visit of members of the 12th Governing Council of the institution, led by the Chairman, Prof. Rasheed Kola Ojijutu, to his palace on Thursday, 17th September, 2020.
Oba Shotobi charged the newly inaugurated Governing Council and Management of the Polytechnic to speed up the process of building accommodation for the students through Build, Own and Transfer (BOT) process and also to be transparent in all their dealings.
Prof. Ojikutu, the Chairman of Council, in his remarks, solicited for the support of the royal father and that of the entire residents of Ikorodu towards the commercialization of LASPOTECH produce and innovations which he said would create employment opportunities for indigenes of Ikorodu and others.
He also sought for peaceful co-existence on the Campuses of the Polytechnic, while also asking for the blessings of the royal father as the Council swings into full operations.
The Ag. Rector, Mr. Olumide Olusola Metilelu, expressed his profound gratitude to the revered Oba for receiving the visiting team from the Polytechnic and also noted that it is important that the Council familiarize itself with the Oba to further strengthen the relationship LASPOTECH shares with the throne and the people of Ikorodu.
He, however, intimated the palace with the recent developments in the Polytechnic which include on-going completion of backlog promotion exercises, stakeholders meetings, improvement of staff welfare as well as the proposed human resources and capacity development.
