The Chairman of the Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Adeshina, has presented an official bus to the Community Development Committee (CDC) in the council for effective operations.
The presentation was made by the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs, Dr Wale Ahmed on behalf of the Council to the Chairman, Community Development Committee (CDC), ikorodu LG, Alhaji Luqman Shonibare, during his working visit to the council on Thursday, September 10, 2020.
Hon. Adeshina also used the occasion to present the score card of his administration while thanking the Commissioner for the visit.
Dr Ahmed, in his brief speech, said that the visit was a working one to see how councils are performing since there inception three years ago.
“We are here on the directive of the Governor to see how our councils have been performing”, he said.
“After this gathering, we are going to see where the Councilors are holding their session” , Dr Ahmed added.
“There still other things that we cannot discuss here but which we are going to discuss with the chairman privately”.
The Commissioner thanked the party leaders and staff of the council who were on ground to welcome him.
Hon. Adeshina, speaking earlier, expressed his joy in welcoming the chairman for his first official working visit to the council.
“It is my honour, privilege and great joy to be here today to welcome the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs , Dr Wale Ahmed, to Ikorodu Local Government for his official working visit.
“I welcome you all to this auspicious programme where the Commissioner and his entourage and Council functionaries will be having a tour around Ikorodu to see the enviable ongoing and completed projects within and outside the Council Secretariat” Hon. Adeshina Said.
“Honourable Commissioner Sir, on assumption of office, this administration has been able to affect the entire staff positively and making the Council environment more conducive and beautiful.
“We have embarked on the renovation of the Council structure which is ongoing. We are going to re-roof the structure which you will see during your tour” he said.
“We are also going to change all the louvers to aluminum windows and doors from wooden to steel. The whole Secretariat is also going to be painted to give it a befitting look”.
The Council Chairman also stated that his administration has been able to impact on Ikorodu in terms of construction of roads, drainages and empowerment programmes among others.
“In the last three years, we have been able to construct/rehabilitate Adaraloye street, Molupa, Ayanra, Anibaba among other roads. We have also been able to construct drainages “, Hon. Adeshina said.
“On resumption, we also felt that our dead ones should be able to rest peacefully and as a result, we have embarked on rehabilitation of the cemetery by doing the perimeter fencing, providing borehole water and electricity”.
While thanking his party and the generality of lkorodu people for their support, Hon. Adeshina also added that his administration has empowered widows, traders, council and party members.
After the reception at the Council Secretariat, the Chairman led the Commissioner on tour of the council and also led him to visit the Legislative Chamber in the Council before having a private meeting with the Commissioner in his office.
