The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the coming Lagos East Senatorial bye – election, Mr Adetokunbo Muhkail Abiru has assured the generality of Ikorodu Division residents that he is now fully on ground to join them in political participation for the development of the division.
Mr Abiru, who was the sole aspirant in the APC primary election which was held on Thursday, September 3, will be competing against other candidates from other parties on October 31, 2020.
While speaking briefly after the primary election at the Ward A4 polling unit located within the premises of the Adeniran Ogunsanya Compound at Oke OTA-Ona, Ikorodu, where he voted, Abiru, who recently resigned from his position as the Group Managing Director/Chief Executive officer of the Polaris Bank PLC, assured the people of Ikorodu division that he is now fully with them and ready to work for the development of the division.
He arrived at the polling unit with his family members and campaign team at 11. 19am and immediately tendered his membership card to the electoral officers for accreditation.
A total of 1, 120 delegates were accredited for the primary election at Ward A4 and they all voted for Abiru to affirmed him as their preferred candidate for the APC in the forthcoming Senatorial bye-election.
The election was witnessed by the representative of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), police and other security personnel.
While thanking the party leaders and others for their support, Abiru charged residents of Ikorodu to troop out enmasse on the day of the Senatorial bye – election to vote for him.
“I want to particularly thank auntie Denrele (Princess Adenrele Ogunsanya) because we have been together for long. She has always told me that I should join politics to bring development to Ikorodu”, Abiru recalled.
“I have always come to Ikorodu and she has always saw me even though many of you do not have that knowledge. Assist me in thanking her.
“Same with Alhaji Sulaimon Ola4, but I always tell them that I will join them fully when it is time and now it is time”, he said.
“I also have to thank my very good friend, the Majority Leader (Hon. SOB Agunbiade). We have also been together”.
Abiru also appealed to residents of lkorodu division to show their support for him and his party by trooping out on the day of the bye – election to vote for him.
“Today is an appreciation day and not for speech making. We are going to work together for a very long time to come”, he assured the people.
“I thank you all for the support. I love the way you all came out to vote and I also expect you to campaign for those who are here today at home to come out on the 31st of October to vote for APC”, he appealed.
Hon. Segun Olulade also thanked the people of Ikorodu for the support and love shown to the candidate.
He commended party members for the acceptance of the former banker with the way they all voted for him.
