The entire members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imota Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has unanimously decided in favour of the choice of the former Group Managing Director, Polaris Bank Limited, Mr. Tokunbo Abiru, as the candidate of the party for the October 31 bye – election.
Members of the party joined other APC members across the Lagos East Senatorial District on Thursday, September 3, 2020, to vote in the direct primary election held in compliance with the requirements of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
In a release by the Chairman, Imota LCDA, Hon. Wasiu Agoro, he said that the election was held at Ward B1 and B2 located at the UPE Playing Ground, Ebute-Ajebo road and St. John Primary School, Ayayo road, Imota, respectively.
At the end of the exercise, Ward B1 recorded 1, 632 votes while B2 had 2,848 in favour of Abiru who was the only aspirant in the election.
The Executive Chairman of Imota LCDA, Hon. (Prince) Wasiu Kunle Agoro commended all the registered party members of APC in the council for their loyalty and for ensuring the emergence of the former Polaris bank boss.
“I am happy with the kind of support that the entire people of Imota LCDA has given to our party symbol in today’s direct primary election and l strongly believe that he will emerge victorious in the coming bye-election in our senatorial district.
“We emerged in the second position in the last general election but this time around, we are going to vote for Mr. Abiru en mass come October 31 bye-election because he is a man of the people”.
The electioneering process had the presence of the representative of INEC, Mr. Ogunbamowo Olarenwaju, and State Party officials from ACME.
Among party leaders on ground to affirm Abiru’s candidacy were Hon. Nurudeen Saka Solaja, Member representing the Ikorodu Constituency II at the Lagos State House of Assembly, and APC Chairman of Imota LCDA, Hon. Akinyemi Ramoni Adewale, party chieftains, Imota LCDA executives and several others.
