-Hon. Olulade, Benson to lead campaign team
The candidacy of the Polaris Bank Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Mr Adetokunbo Abiru, on Tuesday (yesterday) received a boost as the Governance Advisory Council (GAC) ratified him as the consensus candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming Senatorial bye – election.
The group of the privileged party chieftains and elders within the ruling party had last week pruned the list of the aspirants for the Senatorial race to four from the array of gladiators vying to replace late Senator Adebayo Osinowo as the Senator representing the Lagos East Senatorial District at the National Assembly in Abuja.
It was gathered that with the ratification by the GAC, the emergence of the top bank executive, who is being favoured by the National Leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, as the party’s candidate is assured.
Party sources informed our reporter that the State’s executive of the party will have to follow suite, likewise the Council and ward executives.
Meanwhile, the Abiru camp has started rolling up their sleeves for the task ahead.
In other to achieve an effective reconciliation and success at the poll, THE IMPACT also gathered that the Abiru camp and the party have taken some decisions.
A campaign team, which will champion the propagation of the candidate and the party has reportedly been constituted for the boardroom guru.
The campaign team, which is led by former Lagos State House of Assembly member, Hon. Segun Olulade as its Director – General, we gathered, is also expected to embark on reconciliation moves to reach out to other aspirants and other stakeholders
It was gathered that the member of the Federal House of Representatives representing the Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Hon Babajimi Benson, will serve as the Director of Strategy and Planning, while the Chairman of the Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Development Area, Builder Sesan Daini, will handle the media and publicity of the Senatorial aspirant’s campaign.
Other key members of the campaign, THE IMPACT gathered, cut across the Lagos East Senatorial District.
Meanwhile, a major meeting of the campaign team has been fixed for Sunday, August 12, THE IMPACT gathered.
