The main opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has fixed its Senatorial primary election for September 5 to pick its flag bearer for the October 31 bye-election.
Six aspirants are jostling for the opposition party’s ticket to claim the seat from the ruling APC.
Mr Babatunde Olalere Gbadamosi (Ikorodu), Princess Abiodun Oyefusi (Ikorodu), Mrs Sadiat Odofin Fafowora (Ikorodu), Yeye Agnes Shobajo (Shomolu), Moshood Babatunde Olanrewaju ( Bob Turner) (Epe) and Aare Oladotun Hassan (Ibeju Lekki) are those aspiring to emerge the party’s flagbearer for the bye-election.
The opposition party Publicity Secretary in Ikorodu Local Government, Mr Femi Adinlewa told THE IMPACT that, Mr Babatunde Gbadamosi, the former ADP Governorship candidate in the last general elections, picked his nomination and expression forms at the Wadata plaza, PDP headquarters in Abuja, on Tuesday (yesterday) while Mrs Agnes Shobajo picked hers today.
While Gbadamosi is aspiring for the Senatorial position for the first time, Yeye Agnes is a veteran aspirant. She aspired for the same position in 2003, 2007, 2915 and 2018.
This year will make it the fifth term that she will be aspiring to represent Lagos East Senatorial District.
Agnes contested the last primary election for the same position but lost to Princess Abiodun Oyefusi.
According to Adinlewa, during a phone chat with our reporter today, he said that the quality of aspirants on the opposition party’s platform has proven that they are ready to take the Upper Chamber seat from the APC in the forthcoming bye – election.
Adinlewa also informed our reporter that Princess Oyefusi, the PDP candidate for the same position in the 2019 general elections, who is currently outside the country, is expected to return to the country and pick her forms any moment from now.
