-Inducts Oba Kasali as honourary member
The palace of the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, which has been begging for government and the community attention for sometime now, has been given a facelift by the Igbogbo Platinum Lions Club as part of the club’s service to its host community.
At the unveiling ceremony of the renovated Oba’s office located within the palace on Friday, August 14, 2020, by Engr. HOB Lawal, Director, International Lions Club, Lion Adetokunbo Aromolaran, the District Governor, 404A1 Nigeria and chieftains of the club across the State, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Barr.) Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, Emugoriade I, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, was decorated as honourary member of the club.
The club, which also donated five industrial waste bins to the palace, also pledged to equip the office with furniture and electronics.
The Igbogbo Platinum Lions Club renovated the office of the Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali and repainted the main building and the pavilion located within the palace premises to give it a good look.
In his address, Lion Adetokunbo thanked the Adeboruwa for granting the club the opportunity to serve the community with the palace renovation.
While stating that the club’s primary aim is to help in building a society that everyone can live in, he commended the royal father for allowing them to renovate the palace.
“We are here not just to make contribution but also to express our own way of life. We have humane principles guiding our conducts. Our code is ‘live and let live’…”, the Lions Club District Governor said.
“As an association, we are part of the community and we are friends of the environment. The central tenet of the club is to enhance the environment and create sustainable, cleaner and safer community for all”, the District Governor said,
Engr. HOB Lawal, in his brief remarks, expressed his happiness that the Igbogbo Platinum Lions Club has successfully renovated the important palace and donated sanitary equipment.
He also appreciated the District Governor for gracing the occasion.
The Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, Oba Kasali, in his royal message, appreciated the club for the gesture and prayed for everyone that participated in uplifting the ancient palace.
He appealed to members of the club in Igbogbo that are having disagreements to embrace peace while enjoining the leadership of the club to intervene in the matter.
The concerned royal father also reiterated the appeal by one of his senior chiefs for the rehabilitation of the cult guys who, according to him, are not only disturbing the peace of the community but also engaging in endless killings of rival cult members.
High Chief Tajudeen Alade Duduyemi Onasanya, the Odofin of Igbogbo Kingdom and the palace spokesperson, speaking on behalf of the palace, thanked members of the club for giving the Adeboruwa palace a facelift.
He also charged the club to assist the community in rehabilitating the youths that are engaging in cultism and other social vices to make them channel their energy into something productive and beneficial to themselves and the society.
“Those boys who called themselves ‘Aiye’ and ‘Eiye’ confraternities, could be assisted by your club to make them helpful to the society”, Odofin said.
The High Chief also solicited for further help from the service club in providing befitting furniture and electronics for the renovated Oba’s office.
