A socio – political platform, Team JANDOR, has engaged community media executives across the 20 Local Governments and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in Lagos State, Southwest, Nigeria, in a quest to make the state work for its residents.
The Lead Visioner of the group, Mr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, on Monday, July 27, 2020, hosted the community based media practitioners at the head office of the group at Liberty Place, 25, Adeniyi Jones, Ikeja, and charged them to educate youths and other residents in taking ownership of the drive to make Lagos work for Lagosians.
Team JANDOR has been involved in philanthropic programmes in areas of education, empowerment and others with the intent to eradicate poverty across the state.
Adediran also appealed to media practitioners to assist the group in effective dissemination of its ideals and progranmmes at the grassroots levels.
Furthermore, he said that his ‘Lagos for Lagos’ mantra is a charge on all residents, both indigenes and none indigenes, to partake in the movement of putting the state on the right path.
“We want youths to take ownership, think and act. We want them to be change agents”, he said.
“At JANDOR, we are creating the future for the generality of people, especially youths in the state, and the state.
“Lagos has not been working for Lagosians and we cannot right the wrong without electoral power”.
The Lead Visioner, who stated that the group has presence in all the councils in the state, also revealed that the target of the group is to have 2million registered voters that are certain to exercise their civic rights in 2023.
“’Lagos for Lagos’ is not about indigenes alone. It simply means a Lagos that works for everybody that inhabits in it. Everybody can find their own expression in this mantra”, he clarified.
“An Awori man as well as the Ijebus, Igbos and others can find their own expression within the ‘Lagos for Lagos’ mantra and work with us to achieve the dream of making Lagos works.
“’Lagos for Lagos’ has different meaning to individuals depending on the angle they take it.
“To businessmen, it means making Lagos works to guarantee the ease of doing business and to the youths, it means getting more jobs and better standard of living,”, he added.
While stating that the group has inaugurated its Ndi – Igbo state executives of Team Jandor, he added that South- South, Arewa and other structures will follow suit soon.
He also stated that structures in each Local government and LCDA in the state would be inaugurated soon in compliance with the NCDC protocols.
Adediran, while stating that he is a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), also clarified that Team JANDOR is not a caucus or group within the party but a registered organization that engages in humanitarian and developmental activities with focus on making Lagos works for everyone.
He added that he’s helping others not because he’s rich but because he knows how it feels not to have anything.
“Giving does not mean I am rich, it is because I know how it feels not to have at all”.
Also speaking, the Central Coordinator of TEAM JANDOR, Funke Ijayekunle, said that structures across council areas would soon be inaugurated as a drive to harness potentials and build a common front for the people.
Mr. Afolabi Osanyinpeju, the group’s Spokesperson, also speaking earlier, told members of the press that the group has “consistently kept in touch with the grassroots since 2016; initiating laudable projects to alleviate people’s burdens and giving them a fresh breathe”.
