The Area Commander, Area ‘N’ Ijede, ACP. Ekanem Usen, last week, inaugurated the Police Advisory Committee for the Area ‘N’ Command.
At the inauguration of the Area ‘N’ Command’s Committee, which covers the entire Ikorodu Division and beyond, were Divisional Police Officers across Ikorodu, Shagamu road, Ijede, Imota, Owode Onirin, Ipakodo, Ketu Ejirin, Owutu and Agbowa Police Divisions.
The event was held at the Ikorodu Divisional Police Headquarters, Igbogbo Road, Ikorodu.
The composition of the committee includes the stakeholders across communities under the Command which includes representatives of traditional rulers, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Muslim community, community leaders and community development associations among others.
Speaking at the inauguration, ACP Usen said that the security challenges in the community could be curtailed when there is cooperation between the security agencies and community.
While stating that it is the duty of the police to provide security for the people, the Area ‘N’ Commander added that they need support of the people within various communities to ease their job by providing necessary intelligence support for them.
He charged the newly constituted committee to ensure that it achieve the purpose for which it was inaugurated for.
Builder. Sesan Daini, Chairman, Igbogb/Bayeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA) who spoke on behalf of other Council Chairmen under Area ‘N’, pledged the support of the council areas for the initiative of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr Mohammed Adamu, in combating crime.
He pleaded with members of the committee to be committed, sincere and God fearing in discharging their duties.
Daini also charged residents to always call attentions of necessary authority to any suspicious act around them.
“Whenever you see something, say something”, the chairman said.
Also at the inauguration were representatives of Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, Ranodu of Imota, Sekumade of Ipakodo among others.
