In his quest to deliver on his promises of quality representation through timely information for the residents on how he has been using his legislative power to bring about positive changes, Hon. Agunbiade has revealed that the ongoing rehabilitation of the dilapilitated Sekumade road will take time.
He also confirmed that the present work being done by Arab Contractors, the construction company handling the rehabilitation work, is palliative measures to allow for easy passage of vehicles while the major construction work is scheduled to commence soon.
The Majority Leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing the Ikorodu Constituency l, made this known in yet another release on the road, which he signed and released today.
THE IMPACT has reported last weekend that the Arab Contractors had moved its equipment to site and would be embarking on palliative work pending the time that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu would flag off full rehabilitation of the collapsed road.
Hon Agunbiade also stated that the road would not be shut down during the rehabilitation work while also appealing for cooperation from the residents and other road users while the road is being rehabilitated.
To carry the residents along with the details of the rehabilitation work and government’s plans, the ranking lawmaker revealed that the Deputy Governor of the State, Dr Obafemi Hamzat who is also in-charge of the State’s Ministry of Works, had stated that there would be stakeholders’ meeting on the road project.
Below is the full details of the release:
“The Lagos State Government has finally decided to rehabilitate the Sekumade road linking the Ogolonto intersection with Ipakodo/ TOS Benson Road.
“The Road rehabilitation project is now to be handled by Arab Contractors which will concrete-pave the road.
“Please, note that the current palliative work on the road is to prepare an alternative lane as a prelude to the actual concrete paving of the other lane, after which the palliated lane will be attended to.
“The rehabilitation work will take some time and the road cannot be shut down to traffic because of its utility nature, hence the current palliative work on one side of the road to ease vehicular movement.
“According to the Deputy Governor in my recent communication with him, there shall be a stakeholders’ meeting soon to brief our people on the project and the collateral cooperation expected of us.
“I will continue to plead that we bear with the Sanwo-Olu/Hamzat administration in the face of our numerous infrastructural needs, the administration is listening, caring and responsive. Our needs shall continue to be attended to one after the other.
“Also permit me to commend our patience and endurance in respect of the challenging nature of the Sekumade road all these while. It will only get better.
“Let’s continue to pray for the administration of Babajide Sanwo-Olu /Obafemi Hamzat for more grace while we continue to give our maximum cooperation.
“I want to assure you all that all other state roads yet to be attended to are receiving serious attention and shall be listed ultimately like the ones now being attended to.
“I thank you for your love and understanding.
“My regards always”.
