The 25th anniversary of the I995 Set of Oriwu College, Ikorodu, was not just a day for the old students to congregate and give thanks to God for keeping them safe and alive after 25 years of their graduation from the premier College, but also an opportunity to give to the needy.
In commemoration of the anniversary, members of the set visited the Hokanos, Igbogbo, off Ipakodo – Igbogbo road, on Saturday, June 20, to give donation mark the celebration.
Members of the set, led by the Chairman, Mr Lanre Kalejaiye, were welcomed to the orphanage home by Mrs. Evelyn and Mr Jeremiah.
Food items such as rice, beans, indomie, semovita, spaghetti and toiletries like diaper and tissue were donated by the old students to the orphanage home which was founded by late Funmilayo Ajimo Williams.
Kunle Adelabu, the Secretary of the Oriwu College Old Students ‘ Association of Nigeria (OCOSAN), Class of 1995, speaking on behalf of the set, stated that members of the set deemed it for to identify with the home, especially the child inmates being taken care of there.
“We are here today to identify with Hikanos Orphanage home in recognition of the wonderful service that the home is providing for the society.
“In particular, we are here today to interface with the orphans that are in need of the society’s support.
“We here in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of our graduation from the premier college in Ikorodu division and to mark that, we are donating these small items for the upkeep of children in this orphanage. We hope that you will accept us”.
He pledged that the set will be coming around from time – to – time to donate and identify with the children.
OCOSAN 1995 Chairman, Mr Lanre Kalejaiye, also speaking, thanked the management of Hikanos Orphanage for accepting him and his team into their facilities.
Mrs Evelyn, addressing the visitors, thanked them for the donation, while the children also prayed for the old students for their exemplary gesture.
Members of the set later converged on the Falcoms Bar and Lounge at Ipakodo, where they cut the 25th anniversary cake after which they wined and dined.
