The Majority Leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Sanai Agunbiade who was a political ally of the late Senator Bayo Osinowo has disclosed that the widow and son of the late political strategist are hale and hearty.
Agunbiade was responding to the story published by Today News African, an online news medium, which claimed that widow of the late Senator, Alhaja Mariam Osinowo, is battling with COVID-19.
The news medium also claimed that Dr Tunde Osinowo, son of the late politician, has fully recovered from the ravaging pandemic.
According to report gathered the sudden death on Monday, June 15, 2020, of the serving Senator, who served for four term as a lawmaker at the Lagos State House of Assembly before being elected to the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly, is still very disturbing to his family, political lieutenants, his party, All Progressives Congress (APC) and many others.
In a statement released late Wednesday (yesterday), Hon. Agunbiade debunked the news by the online news medium stating that he saw the said widow and son of the late politician in good condition when the remains of late Osinowo was being interred.
Agunbiade, who is also serving a fourth term at the State Assembly, also confirmed that he spoke with the duo on Wednesday on phone.
“I am making this disclosure in response to a fake news circulated today (Wednesday) on social media concerning the state of health of the son and wife of our late Senator, Bayo Oshinowo”, Hon. Agunbiade declared.
“As a concerned Nigerian close to the family of the deceased man of God who ventured into politics, I deem it imperative to make the above affirmation for records and for posterity.
“I declare in my honour that I saw the wife and son of the late Senator on Monday 15th June in good health, when the body of the deceased was interred.
“Today, Wednesday 17th June, again, I personally spoke with the duo on phone and both, like any reasonable persons in their situation, are still traumatised by the shock of the sudden death of the beloved head of their family, but certainly in steady and healthy conditions”, the ranking lawmaker confirmed.
He asked members of the public to disregard what he termed mischief by the news medium.
“Members of the public are, therefore, enjoined to disregard the mischief demonstrated by the said breaking news concocted for whatever reason as we all continue to support the bereaved family with our prayers and well wishes”, Hon. Agunbiade pleaded.
It would be recalled that Late Senator Osinowo died on Monday, June 15 and was buried around 11.00pm on same day at his country home in Ijebu Ode.
