-New Coordinator calls for library, rehabilitation of Vocational Centre in the council
The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ikorodu West Local Council Development Area (LCDA) chapter, has inaugurated its 4th Executive Council.
Comrade Asoro Abubakri Olatunji, the new Coordinator, took over from the outgone Coordinator, Comrade Muhydeen Yusuf Olatunji, after taken oath of office with other elected officers at the Ikorodu West LCDA Secretariat hall on Thursday, June 11, 2020.
Other officers that were inaugurated included Comr Ahmed Sokunbi (Deputy Coordinator), Comr Tony Afolayan (Secretary), Hon Shefiu Saula (Treasurer), Hon Sofile Olalekan (Financial Secretary), Hon Jibike Salau (Social Secretary), Hon Salam lateefat (Auditor), Comr Olokodana Suraju (Asst Secretary) and Comr Anuoluwapo Taiwo (PRO).
The newly sworn in Coordinator, in his acceptance speech, pledged total loyalty to the local government council leadership, noting that such is necessary for the new NYCN exco to achieve its set agenda for the youths.
He noted that the revival of the vocational centre at Ebute which the council has been working on will be one of his major priorities by ensuring that youths are taking off the street and productively engaged.
He added that the vocational centre when fully rehabilitated would curb cultism which is gradually consuming Ikorodu.
Comrade Asoro also called for the establishment of a library in Ikorodu West LCDA.
He appreciated the council leadership led by Hon Ademehin Jumoke Jimbo for the success of the inauguration.
Comrade Muhydeen Yusuf Olatunji, the outgone coordinator, in his own speech, appreciated the support of all and sundry towards the success of his administration.
He commended the council chairman and her cabinet for the support given to his administration.
He advised the new Executives to be more concern about youth activism and engagement.
The State Chairman of NYCN, Comrade Kayode Odunuga, also speaking at the inauguration, charged the newly sworn in executive to strive hard to surpass the previous administrations’ achievements.
He also called on the Council Chairman to provide an office space for NYCN in the council and ensure that youths are carried along at all time in the council’s activities.
Hon. Jumoke Jimbo – Ademehin, the Chairman of the Ikorodu West LCDA, in her remarks, stated that the role of youths in nation building cannot be over emphasized, hence the reason her administration has been supporting the youth group.
She pledged to consider the youths’ request for an office space in the new building under constructiion withn the council.
She further noted that her administration is determined to curb all social vices which include cultism, rape and so on while also requesting for the cooperation of the new NYCN exco in the council.
Other dignitaries that graced the inauguration were Vice Chairman, Ikorodu West LCDA, Hon Sesan Dada, Vice Chairman, Ikorodu Local Government, Hon Princess Folashade Olabanji Oba, Secretary to the Ikorodu West LCDA, Chief of Staff to the Ikorodu West LCDA Chairman, Alhaji Jamiu Kukoyi and the Coordinator, NYCN Ikorodu LG and aspirant for the State Chairmanship seat of the NYCN, Comrade Olalekan Biliiamin Oba among others.
