The Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH) authority has finally confirmed the appointment of Mr Olumide Metilelu as acting Rector of the institution following the expiration of Mr Samuel Sogunro’s tenure on Friday, May 29, 2020.
He was the former Deputy Rector (Academics) under the immediate past Rector.

The Office of the Special Adviser on Education (OSAE) had in a release yesterday signed by Omolase Yejide, its Public Affairs Officer, confirmed the appointment.
According to a release signed by Kuye Olanrewaju, the Director of Information & Public Relations, LASPOTECH on Saturday, May 30, it was stated that the former Deputy Rector is to act in his new post for three months in the first instance.
The release states thus:
“Lagos State government has appointed Mr. Olumide Olusola Metilelu as the acting Rector of the Polytechnic following the expiration of the tenure of Mr. Samuel Oluyinka Sogunro whose rectorship expired on Friday, 29th May, 2020.
“Metilelu will act as Rector of the Polytechnic of Excellence for 3months in the first instance. He was the Deputy Rector (Academics) before his present appointment.
“Metilelu has many scholarly publications to his credit”.
