Representative of Ikorodu Constituency I and the Majority Leader of the Lagos House of Assembly, Hon. Sanai Agunbiade has announced that he is out of the 14-day mandatory quarantine he was subjected to by the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) after returning from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) two weeks ago.
The ranking lawmaker also stated that he is fully back to continue to represent his constituents and entire people of Lagos State after about three months break due to health matter and his delay abroad because of the closure of the airspace due to COVID – 19.
Hon. Agunbiade returned to the country on Wednesday, May 6, 2020, with his wife, Yeye Adeola Agunbiade, after a successful medical treatment abroad and was immediately subjected to a 14-day isolation alongside other returnees by NCDC to ascertain their COVID-19 status.
In a statement signed by the lawmaker to announce the completion of the mandatory quarantine period, the ranking lawmaker thanked everyone that has shown him support while announcing that he has reunited with his family.
“I am fully back to resume my legislative and representative duties which have run in skeletal form for a while”, the performing lawmaker declared.
He stated that he and his wife have again tested negative to the ravaging Coronavirus which he described as confirmation of the result of the earlier test carried out on them while in UAE.
“The 14 day mandatory quarantine recommended and enforced by the NCDC on us, the United Arab Emirates returnees, that came into the country on 6th May 2020, ended on Thursday, May 21 .
“I have since returned home to re-unite with my family after my wife and I have again tested negative to the pandemic virus and got certified by the Federal Ministry of Health as free of the deadly virus”, he confirmed.
“The recent certification is a confirmation of the earlier certification by the Dubai Health Authority sequel to COVID – 19 test before we boarded the return flight to Lagos, Nigeria.
“The quarantine period is a sober experience that assisted in building confidence needed to mingle freely with one’s family and also encourages acceptability to one’s home and community without any hesitation.
“We appreciate all individuals and groups that expressed their concerns and affections through the social media and through several phone calls when we returned to the country after my medical trip and throughout the highly restrictive quarantine period.
“May God will shield you all from troubles and calamities”, Hon. Agunbiade prayed.
“I pray that God heals our land and all those currently suffering from the affliction of the virus. May all those already forced into early graves receive the mercies of the high heavens”.
He reinstated that the virus, which has shutdown the global economic, social and other spheres of human endeavors for about two months, is real and charged the people to continue to obey directives by professionals and government.
“With what my experience has taken me through, I affirm that the COVID – 19 virulence is real and we must try separately and severely to keep safe by obeying all the precautions set out by NCDC”.
Hon Agunbiade also charged people to continue with the act of giving, tolerance, forgiveness and love as exhibited during the Ramadan period and COVID-19 lockdown.
“As we are getting to the end of the holy month of Ramadan, I wish to congratulate all of us for surviving the month and pray that the blessings of the holy month attend to our prayers and sacrifices in the form of fasting. Let us continue to live by the lessons of Ramadan by practising the acts of giving , tolerance , forgiveness and love which are essential elements of good neighbourliness .
