The Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH) Unions have acknowledged the provision of food items for junior staff of the institution by the Lagos State Government to cushion the effects of the ongoing lockdown on them and their families.
THE IMPACT gathered that 50 bags of rice and 50 bags of garri were provided by the government for the junior staff of the institution.
In a statement signed by Comrade Semiu Akinlawon Fasasi, the Branch Chairman, National Union of Staff Union, LASPOTECH, it was stated that the leadership of the unions has agreed that the food items provided by the government would be shared among staff members on Levels 1 to 5 in both Ikorodu main campus and Isolo.
In a phone conversion with Comrade Fasasi, he commended the state government and LASPOTECH management for considering staff of the Polytechnic for palliatives.
The statement read thus:
“At a meeting of the Management and the Unions representatives held today 16th April, 2020, the Unions were informed that members of staff on Levels 1-5 were considered by the State Government to benefit from the Palliatives to cushion the effects of COVID-19 Lockdown on the staff members.
“The Palliatives include: 50 Bags of Rice and 50 Bags of Garri.
“The Management identified about 150 (one hundred and fifty) staff members in this category. Also, it was resolved at the meeting that outsourced junior staff too will benefit from the Palliatives.
“However, the Union was represented by Comrade Ganiyu Kabiru and to be supported by Comrade Adeleke Billiaminu and two female members within the beneficiary category for the purpose of collection and distribution of the Palliatives.
“The meeting resolved that the Palliatives will be distributed at both Ikorodu and Isolo campuses of the Polytechnic. Therefore, beneficiaries will also be requested to indicate their point of collection in due course.
“We thank the State Government and the Management for their efforts”
