The Vice Chairman, Ikorodu West Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon.Olusesan Gabriel Dada, has identified with residents of Lagos State, Ikorodu Division and his council in this trying times of the lockdown ordered to contain the spread of the deadly CONVID – 19.
He demonstrated his compassion for the people by joining other spirited individuals in Ikorodu division by distributing food items to the vulnerable residents in Ikorodu West LCDA.
Hon. Dada stated that the gesture was purely humanitarian and was not done for any political gain.
In a release sent to THE IMPACT and signed by the young politician, he also thanked the federal and state governments for their efforts so far in tackling the Coronavirus and making food available for the needy to cushion the effects of the lockdown.
The statement, which was titled, ‘I stand with my people’, read thus:
“We are all well informed of the pandemic that has affected the globe. The novel coronavirus, otherwise known as COVID-19, has no doubts brought the world to her knees. All countries, affected or unaffected, are strengthening there capacities to contain the spread of this virus.
“Undoubtedly, the outbreak has redefined the focus of governance as the primacy of viable health infrastructures cannot be undermined. Health, they say, is wealth and has no substitute.
“I must appreciate the proactive efforts of the concerned government authorities, particularly the Presidency, the Federal Ministry of Health and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
“Most especially, I join other well-meaning citizens to commend the tremendous and prompt actions of the Lagos State Government ably led by the indefatigable Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, as well as his team, in combating this pandemic. Indeed, his responsive leadership has helped to save many lives and restored hope in the hearts of many.
“In these trying times, I have also deemed it fit, as demonstrated by philanthropists, politicians, non- politicians and other patriotic Nigerians, to extend succour to my people in Ikorodu West LCDA by providing stimulus packages to them during this period”.
Also in the statement, Hon. Dada stated that the gesture he extended to the people in his council is his own way of supporting the food relief program by the state government to mitigate the pains of the lockdown on his constituency.
“This is my personal effort to compliment the efforts of the Lagos State Government, mitigate the pains of my constituents, and equally account for a gesture to humanity.
“The distribution of these relief materials will be done based on the available database at our disposal and in accordance with the template we have created for its effectiveness. Permit me to state here, for clarity, that this initiative is purely non-partisan. More information will be sent out regarding this.
“Let’s continue to keep our personal hygiene through regular washing of our hands with water and soap and the use of hand sanitizers. Avoid public gatherings as social distancing is highly advisable.
“Stay home and stay safe.
