Chairman of the Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Public Accounts and the representative of Ikorodu Constituency II, Hon. Nurudeen Saka Solaja, on Saturday, April 4, 2020, distributed food items to 3,000 beneficiaries in his constituency.
According to Bibire, the lawmaker’s political machinery, the gesture, which cut across the three council areas in Ikorodu Constituency II – Igbogbo/Bayeku, Ijede and Imota Local Council Development Areas, was in support of the ongoing Lagos State COVID-19 Emergency Food Response initiated by Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
According to the statement signed by a political aide to the lawmaker and Coordinator of Bibire Movement, Mr Kunle Odumade, the relief materials were delivered to the door steps of the beneficiaries across the three councils in the Ikorodu Constituency.
It was further stated in the release that the relief program was primarily designed for the vulnerable individuals with focus on the elderly individuals who, according to report, prayed for the continuous success of Hon Solaja upon receiving the packages at their respective homes.
According to the report gathered, the distribution exercise started from Ijede and moved down to Imota and later terminated at Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA.
The distribution was purely non-partisan as members of the Bibire Movement, led by Mr Odumade, moved round the towns in the three council areas lkorodu Constituency ll to distribute the food items with the sole intent of mitigating the effects of the lockdown on vulnerable people.
Hon. Solaja noted that strict adherence to Federal and State Governments’ directives would go a long way in taming the Coronavirus pandemic in Lagos State and Nigeria generally.
He also charged members of his Constituency to remain steadfast, saying that, “our collective struggles, civil obedience, and united strengths will bring Coronavirus to its knees”.
