More interventions, in form of social aid, to cushion the effects of the current lockdown of Lagos State, due to the CONVID – 19 pandemic, continued in Ikorodu on Wednesday (yesterday) as the Majority Leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly and the representative of the Ikorodu Constituency I, Hon. Sanai Oyeniran Bolanle, distributed 2000 bags of food items to residents.
The bags, which contained garri, indomie, sphagetti, macaroni and other items, were distributed to residents in various parts of the Ikorodu Division of Lagos State, Southwest, Nigeria, as first phase of the intervention scheme.
1000 bottles of hand santisers were also distributed to support the efforts of the Lagos State Government in containing the spread of the deadly Coronavirus that has been ravaging the entire world.
In a statement released by the ranking lawmaker’s media team on Tuesday, March 30,2020, it was announced that the lawmaker, who is currently not in the country, would be complimenting the efforts of the state government in providing relief for the people during the lockdown by providing food items for 1,500 households.
Beneficiaries of the exemplary gesture were generated through some leading social media platforms related to Ikorodu Division like THE IMPACT WhatsApp Chat platform and community organisations such as Ikorodu Division Youth Movement , Ikorodu-Oga Development Association (IKODASS), and others.
Distribution of the 100 packages given to THE IMPACT for individuals nominated on its WhatsApp Chat platform was supervised by two of the platform’s administrators who distributed the food items and hand sanitizers directly to the nominees in their respective areas of residence in Ikorodu Local Government, Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Development Area, Ikorodu North Local Council Area, Ikorodu West Local Council Area and Ijede Local Council Development Area.
We gathered that other groups and Onward Movement teams, the operational arm of Hon. Agunbiade, also distributed the relief materials to beneficiaries in their various homes across the division.
According to report, many of the beneficiaries expressed their happiness for being considered for the packages at the point of delivery while they also prayed for the initiator of the gesture and those that nominated them.
