The representative of Ikorodu Constituency II and Chairman, House on Public Accounts Committee (State), Hon. Nurudeen Saka Solaja, has expressed optimism that Lagos State and Nigeria as a whole can deal with the Coronavirus epidemic if residents stay at home and maintain other precautionary measures stipulated by the government.
Hon. Solaja spoke with THE IMPACT on Monday (yesterday) hours after President Muhammudu Buhari declared total restriction in Lagos, Abuja and Ogun to contain the spread of Coronavirus.
A total number of 111 cases had been recorded in Nigeria (as at the time the President addressed the nation) with Lagos leading with highest number of cases.
“Our people need to comply with every government directive concerning the restriction in order to contain the virus that has been causing serious health issue in the country, especially in Lagos”, Hon. Solaja stated.
“We can all see that the impact of Coronavirus in China, Italy and other countries that were seriously affected has gone down and the countries are now returning to their normal life.
“We too can deal with the virus if we follow government’s directives strictly.
“My message to the people of Ikorodu Constituency II and lkorodu division generally is that they should heed government’s directives on precautionary measures.
“It is in our own best interest that the government is acting and we need to abide with all its directives”.
The lawmaker charged residents to wash their hands regularly and ensure that their environments are clean, while also assuring that the state government is doing everything to support residents during the lockdown.
“I urge our people to wash their hands very well and ensure that their environments are clean.
“The Lagos State Government is doing everything to provide support and succor to our people during the restriction period.
“As your representative, we are also supporting the executive arm in ensuring that a legal framework is provided for tackling the epidemic and supporting the government in this period of emergency.
“I pray and hope that the health challenge is resolved soon so that we can go back to our normal social, economic and political activities while governance too would go back to normalcy”, the lawmaker prayed.
The lawmaker plead with the residents to accept the government’s directive which would at the end be favourable.
