About 1500 households are scheduled to benefit from the distribution of food items and other essential materials that would be sponsored by the Majority Leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly and the representative of Ikorodu Constituency l, Hon. Sanai Oyeniran Agunbiade.
According to the four-term lawmaker, the gesture is to compliment the efforts of the Lagos State Government in cushioning the effects of the total lockdown in the state in an effort to contain the health pandemic caused by the outbreak of Coronavirus.
This and other plans were outlined in a,statement issued on Monday, March 30, 2020, by the media team of the ranking lawmaker who is currently on medical trip out of the country.
The statement states that the lawmaker is not unaware of the economic impact brought about by the outbreak of COVID-19, especially among his teeming constituents in Ikorodu, thus, he daily ponders on the need to cushion the effects on the vulnerable residents.
He urged residents to obey all the precautionary directives stipulated by the government and asked those flouting the order, especially religious bodies, to desist and assist the government in stopping the spread of the novel coronavirus.
While urging his constituents to accept inconveniences that may arise due to some measures taken by the government, Hon. Agunbiade stated that he is in support of the government’s action which he said would make the coronavirus pandemic to be frontally tackled and defeated.
“While we join you all to pray for the best in the midst of so much uncertainties, we wish to announce the following as part of the efforts that will be carried out by the S.O.B political family as we strive to make this very tough time a bit easy for fellow constituents”, the statement reads.
“Distribution of sanitizers and other protective materials at various locations by our team of roving volunteers.
“Distribution of relief packs ( food items and other essentials) to not less than 1, 500 households (for a start) across the constituency, to compliment the efforts of the state government.
“Periodic sensitisation campaigns, especially on social media, by our team of volunteers”.
The statement further added that the lawmaker is with the people in this time of global medical challenge while also expressing optimism over possible solutions very soon.
“We once again say SOB Agunbiade will not relent to walk side by side with YOU, yes YOU, as we battle this coronavirus to a standstill”.
He expressed his conviction that, “with God on our side, as we adhere strictly to all the directives of government and other health agencies involved in the management of this global pandemic, we will win this frightening war” .
THE IMPACT gathered that members of the SOB Media Team have started compiling list of beneficiaries for the proposed distribution of food items and other essential materials through religious bodies, community associations, youth groups, party, and social media platforms related to Ikorodu.
