As part of the efforts to contain and curtail the spread of COVID-19 pandemic, the Management of the Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH) has announced the immediate suspension of academic activities until further notice.
The Lagos State Government had on Friday, March 20, 2020, directed that all the tertiary institutions in the state should immediate closed down in view of the new cases of the disease discovered and as well as a way of containing its spread.
According to the release signed by Lanre Kuye, Director, Information and Public Relations, the ongoing 2019/2020 1st Semester examinations for National Diploma II has been suspended indefinitely.
“All students (full time & part-time) are enjoined to return home, maintain good personal hygiene and a healthy environment, and obey directives from health authorities and other government agencies on measures to avert the spread of the virus”, the statement said.
The release also enjoined the staff of the institution to continue with their normal activities as necessary measures have been put in place to safeguard them.
“However, the staff of the Polytechnic is advised to continue with their duties as necessary measures have been put in place to ensure that the atmosphere is free of the Coronavirus”.
The Management of the Polytechnic has been proactive on the issue of COVID-19 through its constant screening of students, staff, guests individuals before entering the school premises and provision of hand sanitizers.These measures, according to the institution, would continue until further notice.
