The Peacock Club of Ikorodu has elected the former Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Lagos State, Prince Rotimi Ogunleye, as its new President.
The election was held recently during its annual general meeting at the club house in Ikorodu.
Ogunleye was elected to lead the club for an initial two-year term due to his sterling qualities, integrity and commitment to the development of the Ikorodu Division.
Ogunleye, a lawyer, Notary Public, Arbitrator and former Editor of the dominant business and economy newspaper BUSINESS TIME is also a member of the Ikorodu Division Resource Development Group (IDRDG), non-partisan, non- religious group comprising of professionals in various walks of life.
The new president was also a former Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives in the State and he has held a number of posts in the private sector before being appointed into the cabinet of Lagos State.
The Director, Information and Public Relations of the Lagos State Polytechnic Mr Lanre Kuye was elected the Vice President, the immediate past Executive Secretary of the Local Education Authority, Ikorodu, Mr Taiwo Oduloye was re-elected as the General Secretary, an entrepreneur, Mr Jamiu Ogedegbe, was elected the Assistant General Secretary while the immediate past president Mr Yomi Abiru become an ex-officio member of the executive.
Others elected into various offices are an advertising practitioner Prince Biodun Adeola who was elected the Social Secretary, former General Manager of the Lagos State Electricity Board, Mr Sikiru Gbadamosi as the Treasurer and the Chief Executive of Bab Sheriff Company Limited Mr Babatunde Odeyemi was elected the Financial Secretary.
The Peacock Club, one of the foremost social clubs in Ikorodu was founded in 1980 and draws its membership from the entire Ikorodu Division.
