Steven Anu’ Adesemoye, a lecturer in the Mass Communication Department of the Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH), has emerged as the Most Outstanding Staff of the institution in 2019.
He was presented with the award at the LASPOTECH 27th Convocation Dinner held at the Banquet Hall of the Airport Hotel, Ikeja, on Saturday, March 7, 2020.
Steve emerged as the overall best of the two award categories (Productivity and Excellence) bestowed on the staff of the Polytechnic.
While ten people won in the Productivity category, five staff members were honoured with Excellence awards.
Mr Samuel Sogunro, the Rector of the Lagos State Polytechnic, speaking at the dinner, stated that the 11th Governing Council of the institution had approved that staff with excellent performance must be awarded to encourage others.
He stated that a committee was set up to determine winners across schools/faculty, departments and units based on selflessness, creativity, innovation, focus, results among other criteria used in selecting the winners.
Steve, who was surprised by his emergence as the best staff of the institution in the year under review, spoke with THE IMPACT on his feat.
“What can I say? I am naturally a workaholic. I was not doing my things for reward. So, this came to me as a pleasant surprise. I appreciate God for His mercy. I appreciate the Management under the leadership of Oluyinka Samuel Sogunro for finding me worthy of this award.
“I promise to triple my efforts in taking the Polytechnic of excellence to the next level. I dedicate the award to all struggling women across the globe” , he said.
“Though, this is not my first award. In 2005, I was awarded the Best Staff (Technical) award under the directorship of Mr Olawumi Anthony Gasper. But this very one is the biggest and somehow emotional”, Steve stated.
Steve is a broadcast educator, TV content director, film and script writer. He also specialises in public relations, advertising, film and new/emerging media.
