Two suspected members of Eiye cult group were brutally killed in Ikorodu on Sunday (yesterday) during a bloody clash between rival cult groups in Ikorodu.
According to eyes witnesses, Fast Money and Eti (nicknames), two suspected notorious Eiye members were lying in the pool of their blood after the surprise attack by the Axe cult group, also called ‘Aye’ on Sunday.
It was also gathered that in a counter-attack launched in the evening on Sunday by the Eiye group, one suspected Ake member was killed.
THE IMPACT gathered that members of the ‘Aye’ cult group launched the reprisal attack between 9.00am and 10.00am against their rival group at Alara in Ladega area of Ikorodu, leading to the killings of Fast money and Eti.
The attack, which lasted for about an hour forced residents of Ladega, Ojubode and Alhaji Street to run for their dear lives before men of the Nigerian Police and local vigilance group, Onyabo arrived the scene to restore peace.
According to sources, Fast money was stabbed several times by his attackers numbering about eight but the knives did not penetrate his body.
One of the assistants, who was said to be his friend then told others that no weapon can penetrate his (Fast money) body except his head is snatched and blood comes out.
According to the eye witness, Fast money was later subdued and his head smashed on the block before he was later shot in the eyes at a close range.
Another eye witness also informed our reporter that Eti too was shot in the eyes at a close range.
A team of policemen that visited the scenes, we gathered retrieved used bullets.
A chieftain of the Onyabo vigilance group confirmed the killings and that their men were immediately deployed to the spot to calm the situation.
There has been increased clashes among rival cult groups in Ikorodu Division in recent time with about 50 young men already killed between January and February 2020 across the division.
Cases of deadly attacks by rival cult groups have been recorded in Ikorodu township, Bayeku, Ijede, Lucky Fibre, Odogunyan and other parts of the division this year.
Meanwhile, the Lagos Police Command, Public Relations Officer, Mr Bala Elkana, in a statement released on Sunday stated that 12 suspects were arrested namely, Ajayi Ibrahim; Isiaka Abdullah; Yusuf Balogun and nine others.
While confirming the cult clash in Ikorodu, also revealed that one locally made pistol was recovered during the arrest.
“In Ikorodu, on Sunday, February 23, 2020, around 11am, the Ikorodu Police Station received information that members of the Aiye and Eiye confraternities attacked one another at the Ladega area of Ikorodu and one Lateef Akinpelu, a.k.a Eti, 24, was seriously injured. Police operatives from the Ikorodu division, Area N, Shagamu Road, Ipakodo, RRS and SARS were mobilised to the scene.
“The injured person was rushed to the Ikorodu General Hospital where he died. Twelve suspects were arrested. One locally-made pistol was recovered. Investigation is ongoing. All the suspects will be charged to court.”
According to the PPRO, Investigation is ongoing and the suspects will soon be charged to Court.
