Members of Kings & Queens Palace, a charity organization on Friday, February 7, 2020, distributed 500 pieces of 60 leaves exercise books to secondary and primary schools in three councils of Ikorodu Division in commemoration of the group’s second year anniversary.
Oriwu Senior Model College, Ikorodu, in Ikorodu Local Government (LG) and Ipakodo Secondary School in lkorodu West Local Council Development (LCDA) are the only two secondary schools that benefited from the gesture while U.A.M.C (Eleja), Igbogbo, in Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, African Primary School, Ikorodu, and Methodist Primary School, Ikorodu, in Ikorodu Local government, were those selected in the primary school category.
The President of the group, Olatubosun Kosoko, speaking with THE IMPACT, stated that the group had decided to embark on the charity work to mark its anniversary.
“We are celebrating two years of our group’s existence and we decided to embark on charity projects to commemorate the anniversary. It is in this wise that we are distributing exercise books, especially to students and pupils that are not privileged.
“This is our widow’s myth and as small as it may seem, you will find out that many of our pupils and students do not have exercise books because their parents cannot afford it but they decided not to deprive them of education by sending them to school.
“Ours is to bridge the gap in our own little way. That’s why we are doing this”.
The Principal, Oriwu Senior Model College, Ikorodu, Alhaja Abiodun Ogunniyi, while receiving members of the group, thanked them for extending their hands of love to the students.
She commended them for the donated books.
Mr Akeem Bello, the new Principal of Ipakodo Secondary School, while also appreciating the group, commended them for considering the school out of the scores of secondary schools in the division.
“I welcome you all to our school and we appreciate your group for considering our school of out of the scores of secondary schools in the division”, he stated.
“We also acknowledge your support for this students. This is a very good way to assist the government because government alone cannot fund education.
“More of this gesture should be encouraged because it is progressive in nature”.
While stating that Ipakodo is the only secondary school with a section for Special Students, Mr Bello called for assistance from the group and other public-spirited individuals and groups in training the special students in various skills and other engagements.
