The Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Education, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab has commended the efforts of the Ikorodu Division Resource Development Group (IDRDG), a Non-Governmental Organisation that liaises with different levels of government towards improving human resources of the State, particularly in Ikorodu division.
Wahab gave the commendation when the group paid him a courtesy visit at his office in Ikeja, thanking the Board members for their level of commitment and desire to collaborate with the Lagos State government to improve the education sector in Ikorodu Division.
He reiterated the State Government’s determination to enhance the development of human resources and capital in the sector, saying that “for development to thrive there is need for human and capital development; this is the reason why the present administration is investing heavily in the Education and Health sectors”.
Noting that the government’s investments at the Primary level include the Eko Excel Project, where teachers are being trained to adopt new technology; the N200 million bailout fund for Michael Otedola College of Primary Education Noforija, Epe and N350 million bailout for Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education, Ijanikin, Wahad revealed that payment of Bursary Awards and Scholarship fees to beneficiaries will soon commence in the five divisions of the State.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Ikorodu Division Human Resource Development Board (IDHRDB)m an arm of the IDRDG and leader of the visiting team, Professor Kunle Ade Wahab applauded the present administration for its educational developmental programmes, calling for more support for the development of the sector, especially in Ikorodu.
In his words “Since the development of education is our collective responsibility, there must be a synergy between the Office of Special Adviser on Education and the Board for the overall development of education in Lagos State”.
“We wish to request for collaboration and global approval to hold educational development programmes, collaboration on State Bursary Awards to Ikorodu Division indigenes in Tertiary Institutions, collaboration on Scholarship Awards both locally and internationally as well as collaboration on the improvement of Alogba Library located at Ikorodu Town Hall premises amongst others”, he added.
