Members of the 1994 Set of the premier college in Ikorodu Division, Oriwu College, Ikorodu, on Saturday, December 21, 2019, gathered to celebrate the silver jubilee of their graduation from the school.
The colourful event took place at Party Event Hall, Igbe Road in Igbogbo, Ikorodu Division.
Prince Segun Oyefusi, Chairman of the set, in his welcome address, welcomed members to the anniversary get-together and stated that the occasion called for reflection on how far God has taken members of the set in life after their graduation.
He admonished members to be more committed to the set’s activities, especially meetings and subscription.
Emphasizing the primary aim of forming an old students’ association, Prince Oyefusi charged members to support the executive council in ensuring that the set gives back to their alma mata in terms of projects.
He also enjoined members do away with the attitude of ” I don’t have enough to give” and always endeavour to contribute their little quota towards the development of the old school.
Prince Oyefusi did not end his speech without remembering the late members of the set as he led the gathering to observe a minute silence in honor of their memories.
The Chairman of the 25th Anniversary Planning Committee, Mr Tolu Omitogun, while also speaking, stated that the anniversary party was organized to enable members of the set to thank God for preserving their lives and celebrate together after many years of their graduation.
He also added that, “another important reason for our gathering is to meet and collectively decide on projects to embark upon for our old school and how to finance it”.
He added that it is important for members to give back to the school that made them.
Members that spoke at the occasion also corroborated the chairmen’s statements and appealed to members to show commitment.
A 4-man project committee, comprising of Tolu Omitogun, Layiwola Idowu, Stella Opone and Peju Awojobi, was set up to decide on project(s) to embark upon for the premier college and how to finance it.
The memorable event presented the members of the set the rare opportunity to reconnect, socialize and rededicate themselves to the development of Oriwu College, Ikorodu, and the old students’ association.
There were enough food and drinks for members, most of who were dressed in uniform attires, aa well as their guests, while they also danced joyfully to various interesting songs dished out by the Disc Jockey (DJ).
